The Most Rewarding Parts About Being an Interior Designer

There is nothing quite like reaching the end of a project and seeing your client's eyes tear up with pure joy. Often times, when I meet clients, they are at their wit's end because either they feel overwhelmed with the amount of design decisions they are encountering on a new build or they feel overwhelmed with not knowing how to visualize their space differently. As an interior designer, the true fulfillment in my job is threefold --- the pride of creating lasting value, making a lasting impact on my client's lives, and the joy of tranforming spaces new and old.

The most rewarding part of being an interior designer

The pride of creating lasting value comes from designing timeless homes that will last a lifetime. Truly bespoke interiors at its root comes from a very intimate and tailored design process. I take pride in letting my interior design clients share all their visions, inspirations, and goals for their home at the very beginning of their project. I want to hear from them and ask them questions about how and why they and their families work. By doing this, I have a strong foundation to jump off from that allows me to meet my clients pain points or daily struggles by giving them a design solution that will create a lasting value for them for years to come.

By designing to build emotional connections with eachother and empowering them with the confidence to live life fully in their space, I am truly making a lasting impact on my client's lives. One thing that my interior design clients are always looking for is better organization and storage solutions that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. By meeeting their need in this area, I am giving them the power to embrace their family life without the worry of clutter and overwhelm. I recently worked on a project for a larger family combining households. In this project, we designed a custom bench seating area around an existing dining table that would allow for more family meals shared together. This design element gave them the ability to have more memories with each other as a family and in turn build stronger emotional connections.

The transformation of spaces old and new is one of the key sources for joy in the interior design industry. The "wow" moment when our interior design clients walk into their new home absolutely stunned that their vision is a reality. Throughout the design process, the excitement builds for our clients and me as we take everything from concept through design development. Once construction hits, interior design clients tend to get "project fatigue," as I call it, from just wanting the end result to be here already. From an interior designer perspective, seeing all the pieces coming together little by little is one of the most satisfying aspects of why I design. I know that my clients are going to love it and be able to see the potential of their space specially designed for their own specific needs.

"The most rewarding part of being an interior designer is knowing that my work goes far beyond aesthetics—it transforms lives."

Seeing the joy and relief on a client’s face when their vision becomes a reality is a feeling like no other. Whether it’s designing a timeless, functional home that simplifies daily life, creating spaces that foster deeper family connections, or bringing new life to old spaces, each project offers the chance to make a meaningful impact. The pride of knowing my designs will be part of my clients' stories for years to come is what fuels my passion for this work.
