2025 Interior Paint Trends to Incorporate in Your Home

Color is the basis of the interior design industry. From construction finishes and fixtures to upholstery patterns and fabrics, every aspect of my job as an interior designer centers around color choices and how they play together. Color in interior design shapes the mood, style, and functionality of a space. In 2025, color is coming back in the form of bold, earthy, and soothing tones to reflect features such as sustainability, wellness, and reflection. I want to deep dive today on the top trending colors of 2025 that take their inspiration from nature, comfort, and individuality.

  1. Earthy Ochre - This is a warm, golden brown hue that adds depth and coziness perfect for grounding a space. This shade looks beautiful in area rugs or textured vases and pots on a shelf.

  2. Muted Sage - A soft, desaturated green that brings a calming, nature-inspired feel to interiors. This plays in beautifully as an accent color to a variety of design styles from mid century modern to coastal.

  3. Deep Currant - A rich, moody burgundy that adds sophistication and a touch of drama. If you are wanting a feminine yet strong color drenched home office, this would be my color recommendation for you in 2025.

  4. Clay Terracotta - A warm, sunbaked orange with rustic charm, ideal for creating inviting spaces. This shade comes in a variety of tones and saturations and is my optimal choice for any home that wants a natural home feel without going completely neutral.

  5. Serene Sky Blue - A light, airy blue that evokes tranquility and enhances natural light. The perfect shade for a full coastal bedroom similar to the coastal room featured in one of our most recent full home projects.

  6. Charcoal Slate - A deep gray with cool undertones, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic. When you don’t want to go full black, this is an optimal choice —similar to SW Iron Ore— perfect for contrasting trim or an exterior dark contrast on the front door.

  7. Sunset Coral - A fresh, peachy-pink with a hint of warmth, adding vibrancy without overwhelming. I always opt for some of these brighter colors as accents or for full room colors in kid spaces and bathrooms.

  8. Soft Lavender Mist - A pale, dreamy purple with a modern and ethereal touch. This is a favorite for kids nurseries but can be tricky because of the tendency to have blue undertones.

  9. Moody Teal- A deep, jewel-toned blue-green that adds richness and sophistication. Although not my favorite shade admittedly, this color is seeing a comeback in 2025 for interiors.

  10. Warm Taupe- A versatile, neutral beige-brown that complements both modern and traditional spaces. Oh I am a sucker for a milky, creamy beige color and apparently so are the majority of people today. I recommend taupe shades for a variety of areas in the home such as trim, doors, full walls, and even ceilings.

Each of these 2025 paint color trends bring warmth, sophistication, and a nature-inspired touch to the interior design industry.

As our culture shifts, people —-and more specifically my personal interior design clients— are craving design selections that reflect what they truly want in life: sustainability, comfort, and self-expression.

You to can experiment with adding these various paint colors into your home either through repainting an entire room, refurbishing an existing piece of furniture, switching out an accent chair, or simply adding pops here and there through vases or soft goods. I would love to hear how you plan on incorporating some of these shades into your home throughout 2025!
